Dance Classes
50+CDS weekly classes are fun, friendly and open level and are taught by professionally trained contemporary dance teachers and artists. The classes invite you to learn contemporary dance techniques and routines, explore creative free movement and develop choreography in a safe and judgement free environment. They are open to all aged 50+, regardless of dance experience, mobility, or health. Previous participants have included those who have never attended a dance class before, and a few with professional dance training. Sessions usually comprise a warm-up, contemporary technique, with a routine and some improvisation, plus a cool down to finish.
Our classes run in blocks of 6 on Wednesday mornings in term time and are at the University of Sheffield Rehearsal Rooms on Shearwood Road in Broomhall
When you sign up for 50+CDS classes, you will also get access to concessionary tickets for a programme of innovative theatre during the Enable Us festival, held every Spring and Autumn, at the University of Sheffield Drama department.

Feedback from classes
“At first I was really nervous, especially at the thought of other people seeing my halting attempts at following a routine. Now months later, I realise that I should have entered the project with joy and enthusiasm, not fear and trepidation”
“Today's session really sparked my imagination, using some set movements but adapting them however we wanted. Also got to mirror-dance with someone else, first time for ages! Even though via Zoom it was still lovely to connect creatively”
“It's a joy and a pleasure to meet with ladies and gentlemen whose passion for dance is delightful and touching. At the moment, we are in online classes but clearly the unity and friendship between everybody is so lovely”
